First taste of hockey

A fun, friendly first taste of hockey.

Hook in2 Hockey is Hockey Australia’s official entry program for kids aged 5–11 — prep through to year 6. Fun first — skills through games, building confidence and making friends. No experience or gear needed to start.

The 2026 program runs 8 February to 5 September — a seven-week intro, then Thursday nights 5:15–6:00pm through Terms 2 and 3. One payment covers the whole year.

  • Run by club members — runners-up, Hockey Australia’s 2025 Hook in2 Hockey Club of the Year
  • All equipment provided and uniforms sorted — just wear sports clothes and runners
  • Optional Saturday-morning intra-club comp in Terms 2 & 3 (U8 $40 · U10 $70)
  • Small groups, lots of touches, plenty of smiles
  • A clear pathway into our Juniors teams when they’re ready

Older kids keen to start? We cater for them too — just email first so the right coaches are on deck. Questions to Brian: hookin2hockey@mentonehockey.org.au

Our approach

Fun first. Skills that stick.

Our junior program promotes fun, enjoyment, teamwork and a positive attitude — while helping players develop strong skills and a love of the game.

Training combines technical coaching with a small-game approach, building individual ability, teamwork and game awareness in a positive and supportive environment.

Senior players from both the men’s and women’s sections actively support the junior program — mentoring players and helping make the transition into senior hockey smooth and welcoming.
