Discounted Responsible Serving of Alcohol Training – Monday 16th of October

The Mentonians Association (the Mentone Grammar School alumni association) has organised an RSA training session for this coming Monday night (16th of October) and they are part subsidising it and have opened it up to the individual Clubs. The reduced cost for Mentone Hockey Club members is only $35 per person. Most reputable training providers charge at least $55 per person. Venue is the McBeath Theatre, Greenways Campus, Mentone Grammar, 63 Venice St, Mentone The course starts at 7pm (6.30-645 arrival) and runs through to 9.30pm if you are interested you can sign up HERE

  Hockey Victoria has asked the whole of our Victorian hockey community to support Hockeyroos and Kookaburras through strong attendance numbers at the International Festival of Hockey. This is an opportunity see world class hockey up close and to show passion for the game and our national teams. Junior Presentation Night – 2017

  Mentone Hockey Club’s Junior Presentation Night, this year will be held at Hyperactive Sports, 3 Haymer Court Braeside, on Friday the 22nd of September starting at 6.00pm. Vale – John Ellem

The Club is sad to announce the passing of John Ellem,  father of Tim Ellem. John was involved as a coach with the Mordialloc Ladies Hockey Club in 1984 and 1985.  This was when the club, played at the Walter Galt Reserve in Warren Rd on grass grounds. He offered to coach, as his daughter Kirsty began playing in the 3rd XI (D Grade).  This was a team of essentially juniors, who all went to Mordialloc High School.  He coached the beginnings of a new era that still has impact at our Club today.  Those who were around in those day …

Fair Go Sport

This is Hockey Victoria’s 5th Year of Fair Go Sport initiative which the Club fully supports. “Fair Go, Sport!”  was developed in conjunction with Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission to promote inclusivity and understanding with the aim to increase awareness of sexual and gender diversity and to promote safe and inclusive environments.  This initiative has spread to more sports each year. In this round,  Medals will be awarded to a player from each team in the Premier League games that displays courage, acts of sportspersonship, leadership and fair play on the field. Mentone Juniors in action at The Junior State Championships

During the first week of school holidays the Junior State Championships were held at Footscray Hockey Club and the State Netball and Hockey Centre, with teams representing zones across Melbourne battling for the championship in under 13, 15 and 17 age groups.
