Hookin2Hockey starts 18th of February

    The Mentone Hockey Club is again pleased to offer  Hookin2Hockey, the national junior development program designed by Hockey Australia. This year’s program starts on Sunday the 18th of February at Keysborough Playing Fields Keysborough Playing Fields are located at 732-742 Springvale Rd, Braeside Sessions are held on Sunday mornings from 9.00 am till 10.00 am and continue for 8 weeks with breaks for the Labour Day week-end and school holidays. Hockey Roadshow Coaching calling for Expressions of Interest

Over the last few years the Mentone Hockey Club has participated in the HV schools Roadshow Program. This is an introductory program for primary students from grades 3-6 run within their schools The emphasis of the program is very much on the kids having fun and enjoying hockey in a safe way. The program starts on the 5th of Feb (NEXT WEEK) and concludes on the 9th of Feb with morning and afternoon sessions across 15 schools. Can you spare some time on Australia Day?

Dear Members, The Club has been approached for the use of the ground on Friday the 26th of January to host a six team round-robin hockey carnival.  The Community organisation making the request has indicated about 200 spectators with a couple of the teams made up of people from interstate.  You’d appreciate this is a very late request, but the previous ground they have used hasn’t be able to accommodate them this year, but that Club wasn’t organised enough to be able to tell them that till yesterday.   The reason for raising this is that the organisers have asked …

2018 Pre-Season Summer Series.

Another 7 week summer series is starting in January. Open to anyone 13yo or older. 7 week series, including finals. Dates: Monday’s 22-Jan, 29-Jan,5-Feb,12-Feb,19-Feb,26-Feb,5-March $70/player, $0/Goalkeeper. The closing date for signup for players is the 15th of January to allow for team selections, please signup before then to avoid disappointment. Signing up for the season is also commitment to pay the fees as positions are limited. Please think carefully before committing to the season. Flash End of Year BBQ at the Club

It was the week before Christmas….and it’s time for a BBQ. To end a full year of hockey, a small BBQ to kickoff the festive season and a last chance to get together before the holidays. Tonight, 18th December, 7.00pm start at the ground. $2/person or $5/family. Please RSVP to competitions@mentonehockey.org.au with numbers for catering purposes by 5.00pm today.    

Gracie Geddis named All Australian

Congratulation to Gracie Geddis on being named in the Schoolsport Australia,   All Australian Hockey Team for 2017 at the conclusion of the Pacific School Games in Adelaide between the 2nd and 9th of December. Gracie was representing Victoria in the Girls 16 years and under age group,  while sister Zara was also competing for Victoria  in the Girls 12 and Under age Group Gracie’s selection means she will be heading to South Africa to compete sometime in  2018. Summer Series Round 6 Wrap.

  With second spot up for grabs it was important to secure the win for the the Kings. In a tight fought tussle with the Moscato’s , a single field goal separated them at the end with the Kings taking a 4 points to 2 win. The Kings win opened up the possibility for the Coyotes to jump to the top of the ladder. A free flowing game between the Sausages and the Coyotes finally saw the Coyotes end up the regular season with a 5-0 win and secure top spot going into the finals round. This weeks finals sees …

Summer Series Round 5 Wrap.

  A turn up for the books as the Sausages scored their first win against the Kings, followed by an upset win over  the Moscato’s by the Coyotes. The race for 2nd is still on depending on the results of tonight’s games.
